I was a willow last night in my dream
It's the weekend. Almost. I guess the weekend doesn't start until we get out of work today. Well, if that's the case I'm going to help you get there faster. How about Heart tearing through a version of Crazy on You? I mean, like they blew every Midnight Special performance away with this one! This song will set a good pace for the weekend. Plus Ann Wilson is a fox!! Big time! ...and man, she can sing.

Scaring the nation with their guns and ammunition
Happy belated Father's day to all of you Dad's out there. I read that Chicago had over 40 shootings yesterday. What is wrong with people? It's father's day - have some respect! I don't need to hear those sirens wailing while I’m in my backyard playing badminton. Enough with the guns and ammunition!

And now we're full of energy
Sometimes there is nothing better than listeneing to Kraftwerk. I hope you're in the mood because you're about to hear some! Electronic music sure has come a long way since these dudes pioneered it in the 70's. And, when I say it's come a long way, I mean it will never be this good again.

We, we will skate across the surface of the storm as if we're wheeling sea-birds.
It's nasty outside. Luckily, I had time to mow the lawn today before the storm. I listened to XTC's 'English Settlement' as I mowed. It's a fantastic album! Colin Moulding comes up with some of the best (pop music) bass lines this side of Paul McCartney. I always loved his song writing as well. Here's his song; Ball and Chain from English Settlement:
Andy Partridge's songs in general took a while to grow on me; but when I turned around I really understood what I was missing. Especially on English Settlement. Here's a cool live version of Yacht Dance from the same album.
Be safe and have a great weekend!

He is the god of nothing
A lot of people talk shit about Jethro Tull but they have obviously not heard their first 5 albums. They're fantastic. Yes, they're a rock band with a flutist. Big deal! Take a look (and listen) to the live video below from 1970. This is a band that not only has amazing musicianship but a band that is also possessed by the music. It's as if Ian Anderson is channeling some drunken beast man when he puts his lips on the flute. I was about to fast forward through the solo he takes midway through the song but I’m glad I didn't. He's a madman and it's great! This is My God by Jethro Tull.

PS - Is that drummer amazing? Yes. Yes he is. His name is Clive Bunker.

Today I passed you on the Street
Okay, I just wrote up this nice post and it turns out the jackhole who posted the song, disabled embedding. The video was the only (non) live version and all the live versions were taken from a damn phone! Listen, I don't care that you saw the band! I don't need you to post some terrible video that is barely visible and sounds like me at 5 years old playing with my Fischer Price tape recorder! Also, why would you disable embedding of a video that you have no rights to! It's not your music. It's online, why not let people enjoy it!
Rant over.
I do however always have a backup plan...let me blow your mind with I Can't Help It By Hank Williams with Anita Carter:

Nowhere to go but back to sleep
I've had a ton of songs running in my head lately but can't seem to make a decision on which to play for you! Peace Like a River by Paul Simon is a standout from his first solo album. When I listen to this song on a day like today it seems to fit perfect. What do you think:

Put your smile on my face
I'm still without internet at home so I apologize for the sporadic posts. It's Wednesday and it's crappy outside. Not much to talk about...
