Never the rose without the prick

I feel great today! For once, I can actually see the sun when I wake up in the morning. I love my new house! The sun shines in everywhere. I used to wake to darkness and a sliver of light but now I have this guiding light reminding me to feel good…and it’s a 3 DAY WEEKEND!!

Everything will be cool

I'm back! Sorry for the delay but I have been crazy busy. I moved this weekend and can now officially consider myself a homeowner. I was going to get literal and post a song like "Our House" by Madness but I thought better of that. Today just seems like a good day for Todd Rundgren. So first let's enjoy a great version of Sometimes I don't Know What to Feel:

Now check out your boy on guitar with Black Maria:

and just because I love this song here is I Saw the Light:

There's trouble every day

It's just one of those days. In fact, I have a feeling it's going to be one of those weeks. I'm packing, moving, shopping, cleaning, painting, driving and working and it just seems like it will never stop. Something goes wrong every day but hey, we all just need to stay positive. Right? So with that said, here is Trouble Every Day by The Tindersticks.

Pass the bottle, Friday rules! Friday rules okay!

Not much to say, it's Friday and the sun is shining!

Man, Graham Maby can play the hell out of that bass! One of my favorite bass players of all time. He played on all of Joe Jackson's good albums. Speaking of good Joe Jackson albums, I'd really like to hear something from Night and Day. How about you?

...have a great weekend!

When the armies of emotion go out to fight

Yet another crumby day in Chicago. The rain has stopped but it's still miserable outside. I had a million Nick Drake songs running through my head this morning but I think I’ll go with an old standby for me: The Cello Song.

We dream of a ship that sails away

It's another slow moving, rainy day in Chicago. Though that does make this the perfect day for one of my favorite Brian Eno songs: Spider and I.

That's why i love mankind...

It's miserable out there today. On a day like this Randy Newman's cynical lyrics and sad music is a great companion for the dark moody sky. Here is God's Song

In Germany Before the War is another depressing song but this one is not about how God doesn't care about mankind; it's about a child murderer. This is a truly haunting song and an amazing performance.

Another sad one. This one is about water, somewhat fitting for today. Louisiana 1927:

He acts while other men just talk

Damn! I keep posting late in the day and for that I apologize. Anyhoo, I hope that you had a good day. Here is Tom Jones to make everything a little bit better!

and here's the studio version for good measure:

You've never been this high before

My last post was my 50th! I guess I didn't realize. I won't get excited until I reach my 100th and on that day we will have a special song, I'm sure of it. But honestly, every song I post is special.
Today is a crumby day! For starters I’m at work and I’ve been here since 8am! It's freezing, raining and windy outside! Today is the type of day that you don't even leave the house. So go on, stay on the couch in your sweatpants and enjoy it! While you're at it, enjoy Cheap Trick with Heaven Tonight

I hear it in my head real low

It's a little late but there's nothing wrong with a little night music!

Have you heard the new Stones song?

It's from their rarely opened vault. A song that didn't make it on Exile on Main Street? Yes please!

And sometimes I ride on bus X-82. Say what?

Sorry that I was MIA yesterday, I hope that you got through your day without me. It's only Tuesday but hey, Lost is on tonight and word on the street is that my old lady is making a meatloaf! I think today will be a fine day. How about a little a little Culture today? Here is the titular song from their album Two Sevens Clash.
